Excellent post! I’ve often wondered how two writers can be married (doesn’t always turn out well–look at Plath and her hubs). My hubby is a “Writer Widower” and I’m sure he’d agree to putting in those long hours discussing blogging, editing and publishing. I know Graeme is thankful for your support, as I’m so thankful for my hubby’s! God bless you writers’ spouses!
ReplyMy poor rob is a Writer’s Widow. I couldnt ask for a better partner. He is definately not afraid of telling me if something I have written is terrible and he has to constantly put up with my flash tempers…which once involved me deleting every story I had written off my computer, instantly regretted it and spent ages looking for my back up disks and data sticks. He sees me through every mood and I love him for it. He is not a reader or a writer or has ever wanted to write a book really, but he has got an obsession with Star Wars and its an obsession we share. We have enough in common to see us through the times when I barely acknowledge he is alive :/ We both enjoy our ‘alone time’ but also try and make time for each other whenever possible.
I congratulate your amazing patience, as I know how hard it must be. Graeme is a great guy and you are very lucky to have each other :))
ReplyLove it! Hubby O’Mine is a writer’s widower, sort of. I have not only my writing, but college classes. I’m still in charge of dinner, tho. Sigh. But he loves being at his workbench, and when he’s not there, he’s usually playing computer games. Editing? I need my crit group for that. The last time I asked him to give me feedback on how the story worked, he said, “I think you need a comma there.” Like I said, *last* time. But put him in a group and he’s great at brainstorming solutions to plot problems!
Thanks for a great post, and thanks to all those writer’s widows who put up with us.
ReplyThis is such a great post! My hubby-to-be says he’s a writer’s widower, and makes sure he tells most people that he is. He even adds a small pout when he does it. lol But what he fails to tell is that he, as an artist, spends just as much alone time with his paintings as I do with my books! Um, yeah… guess he forgets to mention that. Even with both of us emerged in our own worlds, we still find time to share with one another, and that time to me is more precious than if we were together constantly.
Thanks again for the post. I very much enjoyed it… and getting to know a little more of the writer Graeme that I’ve begun to learn about. 🙂 Bless you both and wishes of much happiness and success.
ReplyI am afraid I don’t feel as positive as most of you seem to feel. In retrospect I would have found it more useful to have married a plumber, electrician Painter and Decorator Or just anything rather than a writer. Gardener ? Cleaner??!!
